the madhouse help:
mIRC

mIRC is a great chat application, that will provide you a long while of enjoyment on IRC.  You can customize it, and run scripts, and do much more than possible with the java applet, plus it takes less processor power to run than a java applet in a web browser.  But first, you need to get it all working to enjoy its benefeits, and thats what this help tutoral is all about.

Note: This tutoral assumes you have already downloaded and installed mIRC, if you have not already done that, click here

step 1:

when you first start up mIRC, you are greeted with several popup windows.  The the only one we will be concerned with is the mIRC options dialog box.  Unfortunately, the person who wrote mIRC wasn't smart enough to add the madhouse IRC server to the list.  Not much of a problem though, we can do it.. its easy.
1.make sure you fill in your name and your info and stuff.
2. Click on the Add button
3. Look at the illustration above.

Step 2:

Now, something extraordinary appears, the mIRC Add Server Dialog box pops up.. Fill out the information as shown:
Description: The madhouse IRC Server
IRC Server: irc.skalar.dhs.org
Port(s):6667
and leave Group and pasword blank, and press Add when you' are done.
Now go look at the illustration and figure out what the hell I'm talking about.
